Wat Pho

Thai Wat More in Bangkok

A 46 m reclining Buddha with mother of pearl feet, and it barely fits in its hall. Wat Pho is also Thailand's oldest centre of traditional medicine and still runs a respected school of it on site. Right next to the Grand Palace, so do both in one morning.

Before you go

  • Shoulders and knees covered. Wraps are usually available at the entrance.
  • Check current opening hours before travelling: sections close for restoration and ceremonies.
  • This is a working place of worship before it is a sight. Quiet voices, no flash during prayer.

Facts checked against the Wikipedia entry for Wat Pho and Wikidata. Practicalities are general good practice, not a substitute for the temple's own notices.
