Khmer Temple More in Siem Reap

The largest religious monument on earth, and it still works as a temple. Come for sunrise over the five towers, when the moat turns the whole thing upside down. Give it half a day, not an hour: the bas relief galleries run for hundreds of metres and are the best part once the sunrise crowd thins.

Before you go

  • Shoulders and knees covered. Wraps are usually available at the entrance.
  • Check current opening hours before travelling: sections close for restoration and ceremonies.
  • This is a working place of worship before it is a sight. Quiet voices, no flash during prayer.
